Avoid At All Costs!!
I've moved nearly a dozen times - by myself, by a company I've hired and with my work paying for the move. By far the worst experience ever and added tons of unnecessary stress to an already tough experience.
Run, run, run away from Uber Movers. Terrible.
Terrible experience with Uber Movers
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
1. I told the sales rep I would not work with Uber because I wasn't comfortable with the language in the contract that said it could take up to 31 days for something to be delivered in the distance I was going. I simply couldn't go that long without my belongings.
-Sebastian said he COULD guarantee my delivery by the 14th. He was even able to waive the typical fee to have that guarantee and included that guarantee on the quote/work order (charged .01 for this)
It is now 1/28 and I still don't have my belongings. I am being told that since I didn't pay that guaranteed delivery fee, the only course of action is to refund that .01 charged. This is extremely insulting and I can't believe an employee is allowed to put a guarantee on something where the only recourse for not meeting the guarantee is a penny. This is the definition of a scam.
2. He told me that you are not a brokerage and you would have your own trucks/crews moving everything - that turned out to be a lie, They contracted my load and it is currently on some random person's truck in California, delivery TBD.
3. I was up-charged at pick-up $250 even though I was well below the 200 sq ft I was quoted. There was a language barrier with the crew and I couldn't get ahold of any other employee at the offices to discuss these erroneous charges and felt I had no other option but to pay for them or risk my delivery being delayed.
4. I was told there would be no shuttle fee on my delivery. This was a lie. So to avoid a shuttle fee of $350, I will have to rent my own Uhaul, meet this random trucker in a parking lot to load my own things, into my own truck and then to move into my new apartment.
I still don't have my things. I'll be sure to add some notes here once I get to find missing/broken items. But hey, at least I get to move my own belongings into my apt!
Good reviews are clearly fake, this review is real
Experiencing the best
All worth it
They know what they are doing
Several days before the move I had a call from a moving company called "Great North American" out of Washington state. They were calling to let us know they would pick up our belongings on the 20th of October. Uber had been scheduled for the 18th. When I asked how they got the load they said that Uber had "brokered" it to them. I read their reviews and their FMCSA and it was unacceptable. I called Jason and he assured me it was a mistake and they do sometimes broker loads but they weren't with mine. They said they were picking it up on the 18th as agreed.
The movers called on the 18th and said they would be here between 10am and noon. That was good for us. Noon came and went and we called and we were told they got held up on another job and would be here by 2pm. That was ok also. 2pm came and went and it came to 4pm and I called again and they said the movers were "in our neighborhood" and would be here by 4:30PM. The actual driver of the truck called and said that the truck had broken down and he would be here by 5:30PM. I asked him if he would b bringing in a tractor trailer and he said that he was driving a 26 foot straight truck. I asked if all would fit and he said that they only quoted the amount for half the truck. I stated that there was no way it would fit. He said he would look at it when he got here.
At around 6pm when he got here he came in and looked at all and said he wasn't sure he would be able to fit it all in his whole truck so the price would be more than double. He was also driving a plain white, unmarked truck. I told him that we couldn't afford it and sent him on his way thankful we didn't allow our furniture on his truck.
In the middle of all of this, we had utilities scheduled to be turned off and we also have ten month old twins (who had all of their things boxed up). Uber movers and Jason, you have no idea the turmoil and pain you caused. Of course, none of the numbers that had called me to set the move up, driver, company or anyone else will call me back or answer emails. They did have me put a credit card deposit and scan and email them a copy of the front and back of the card, a credit card authorization form, and a copy of my license. This was to "prevent fraud". I have now disputed the charge. In hindsight, this was way overboard for a credit card authorization. I have cancelled the card and a new one was overnighted to me. Thank you American Express!!
If anyone wants to sue, we will be glad to go in and share our emails reassuring us that all would be fine. Thankfully, we did find another national chain who will move us. It is sad that companies like this exist. They lie and prey on the unknowing and the knowing. I am not sure how they sleep at night. Hopefully none of them has children. Their children would be ashamed of how their parents treat others. May no one ever treat your mother, sister, or daughter like you treated us Uber movers.
Scams and lies...that's Uber
May you be blessed with more
